After winning a grant from Grand Challenges Canada in 2014 we partnered with the Range of Motion Project (ROMP), an experienced prosthetic provider already set up in the area, and began trials in July 2015 in Zacapa, Guatemala. We have provided over fifty of these prostheses and model the rest of our prosthetic designs on the trans-radial prosthesis. Skip to main content. Proper medical support plus a functional prosthetic device equals an expensive financial burden that not all amputees can afford. The prosthetic is called Victoria, after where it is being developed. We do more than just design a low cost prosthesis – we work with the local community to supply training and technological support, which enables medical professionals with the skills needed to build the Victoria Hand and deliver it to amputees in need. This is especially a concern in countries with a higher prevalence of amputations from violence or medical complications, and reveals a clear need for easy and affordable prosthetic deliverance.The Victoria Hand Project provides support to amputees in developing nations through cutting edge technology and engineering expertise. VHP has created a device through 3D printing which allows the cost to be significantly reduced.
