I would like to see more time given to Darci, Abby & Ophelia's mother. So when it came time to find a mystery with which to while away a lazy Saturday afternoon I picked this one off my to-read shelf. Shirley Damsgaard has carved a new niche in the market: Appalachian Paranormal Fiction! A satisfying read.I'm liking this series more and more as I go along. Death claims the souls of those who die and takes them to the afterlife. Not horrible, not brilliant, the doer of the dastardly deeds was again not too mysterious at all, and the characters are kinda flat...Love these books, next one in series, I'll be reading.I read this book because my son picked it out because of the cat on the cover. Charmed to Death is one captivating mystery.

Will keep on with the series but my enthusiasm is dampered a little. She's starting to see the value of her gI'm of two minds with the main character Ophelia. Abby knows Ophelia will be tested soon and wants her to be prepared. She treats it as if it's her power when she's just a vessel, as Abby says. As other reviews stated, a good editor is needed stat.These cozy mysteries would be much better if the main character weren’t so annoying.worth reading a couple more in the series before I make a final decision about reading the whole series.BOTTOM LINE: #2 Ophelia and Abby, rural Iowa; fantastical cosy mystery. This one I jumped right into this second in the series after reading the first and this one solves the mystery of her friend's murder five years earlier that caused Ophelia to shut out other people and deny her heritage of folk magick. So when it came time to find a mystery with which to while away a lazy Saturday afternoon I picked this one off my to-read shelf. One day the Charmed Ones will die. Since beginning to embrace her heritage and open herself to friends during the events of the first novel, she makes more strides toward using her precognitive gifts in this novel as she tries to save those around her from the same killer that murdered her friend. On the one hand I like that she's a strong lead character.
